Introduction

I am good at tests and get good marks on assignments in science. Also I’m good at quizzes in math. To things I need to improve on is doing all my math homework not just some. And asking for help in math when I need it. My goals for the next 6 weeks of school is to study harder in every class so this years exams are a lot higher than the last one I had.

Adult Response

Term 1 Reflection
This term I learned about ratios witch was my favourite and was easy to me. We also learned about proportional reasoning and rate. Around the end of term 1 we did a sesame street video and my partners were Jennily, Krizna and Samara. Other things in math we learned was Pythagoras. Which is a right angled triangle and square of the long side is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. And the formula is a2 + b2 = c2.

=Sophia's Great big book of integers=

Integers can be positive or negative odd or even. A negative number is a number that is less than O. An even number can be divided by 2. An odd number can't be evenly divided by 2. O is an even number and it is not positive or negitive just 0 -NEGATIVE is blue +POSITIVE is red BOTH=zero pair Remember the song "use a zero pair when subtracting something that is not there" (use this song it will help) Grade 7 way Using brackets ( ) Standard form Not using brackets ( X ) If you are having trouble and you don't understand intergers use a number line or think of it as money.(try it out right now) When you have an even number of negative factors the product is POSITIVE ODD
When you have an odd number of negative factors the product is negative==
Examples:

-11-(4)=-7 - - - - - - - (- - - -) Take this away

22-(-9)

22-+(-9)=31 + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

- - - - - - - - -

+ + + + + + + + +

These are supposed to be zero pairs

-9 +4 +(-9)

-9 +4 -9

-9 -9 +4 a number line is a good strategyfor me

-18+4

-14=

example of multyplying integers:

7X-2

Forget the signs and multyply normaly

7X2

14

Now you can go back to the signs You know that a positive times a negative is a negative So your answer is -14=

Explore Response Novel Study-Iqbal Chapter One

I have finished reading chapter one of the novel, Iqbal by Francsesco D’Adamo. The genre of this book falls into the realistic fiction category. In the book the author has chosen not to include any illustrations because this book is written like a novel. The story is in the eyes of Fatima a 10 year old girl who gets to know Iqbal Masih and why he appeared. The Chapter takes place in a carpet factory in Lahore, Pakistan ran by the master Hussain Khan.

The authors purpose in writing Iqbal is to inform the reader about the issue of child labour. I am reading this text to gain a deeper understanding about the on going issue of employing children in factories and workshops. Child Labour is a human rights issue of employing children in factories and workshops. Child labour is a human rights issue that everyone should be aware of.

Some key lines worth remembering from this text are “Memories fade like worn carpets” because Fatima was forgetting about her family and were she came from. This line is also a simile that the author used to compare a character (Fatima) memories to a worn carpet. Another key line worth remembering is "tthen he drew many other lines one next to the othe, as straight as the
hair on the back of a frightened dog” and “I studied those mysterious lines, thick as trees in a forest”. I chose both of these lines because it shows how that Fatima cannot read. Another key line worth remembering is “Very few of us had enough energy to talk or laugh” I chose it because it tells you how weak they are from poor living condition. Lastly, a final key line is “Until Iqbal arrived”. I chose this line in the text because everything changes when he arrives.
The organizational features and/or supports that helped me read this book or got in the way of my understanding is that it is easy to follow and read. I think that the reason why the author put numbers instead of words for titles for every chapter was so you could figure out what was going to happen yourself.

Science

In term 1 we learned about cells, and early scientists. In term 2 we learned about optics. In term 3 we learned about viscosity and how thick or thin it is, Boyancy ( we had an expierimental pop quiz to see what would flot or not).

Art

In the beginning of every class we do 5 minutes of drawing. After, we paint and or learn about early painters, and observe paintings. Right now were working on a project on painters from the 20th century. My project is on Fanny Inama von
Sternegg.

Practical Arts

In Electronics we made a PC board which lit up. Also we made a square piece of metal into a picture of our choice. Then when we were finished we put it in acid.

In cooking we learned how to work with our groups( teamwork) and cook for later life. We baked cookies, breakfast pizza's and Banana Cranberry Muffins. We also made small meals like Spaghetti and salad, Quesadilla's and Stir Fry with Rice. Last but not least we made Puffed Wheat Cake. They were all delicious.
Also in cooking class we had had our first test on on Nutrients in food and our second test was on safety and how to handle food when cooking. Our assignments were about food safety, food guide and Human and non Human Resources.

In sewing we learned how to use our types of machine (mine was Janome) and made a pillow to show how much we learned. Setting up my machine was hard at first because the year before I was using baby locks. But after, it was easy and I knew exactly what I was doing. After making the pillow we made pj's. My mark was 18 out of 20. My term mark was 88.

Gym

In term 1 we played volleyball. In term 2 we learned how to play badminton and 3rd term we learned how to dance for our pep rally and play basketball. And last but not least we are running and doing high jump for track in field May13.
